About Africa Desk
Africa Desk, inside and out
Africa Desk exists for travellers and intermediaries who want East Africa handled with polish — the right rhythm, the right partners and the kind of guest-facing attention that cannot be improvised later.
Founder background
Hospitality operations in Kenya, guest-facing judgement, and a working standard shaped on the ground.
Founder perspective
The person behind the standard.
I spent five years on the Kenya coast, managing the front office of Jambo Village in Malindi, coordinating guests from across Europe, working with local teams and learning the hundred small decisions that determine whether someone remembers their trip as good or as something else entirely.
After that I kept travelling through the region on my own, through Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar, as a curious and demanding guest. Not on press trips or guided tours. Just going, noticing, forming opinions.
I know which areas are worth the journey at which time of year. I know the difference between a safari that runs on schedule and one that runs on genuine knowledge of the land. I know what Zanzibar feels like at six in the morning before anyone else is on the beach.
What I want to do now is straightforward: help the right people get to these places, and make sure every detail is handled so they can simply be there.

Intention over volume
We keep the public offer intentionally narrow because the value is not in saying yes to everything. It is in curating a smaller number of journeys at a level that feels complete.
How trust is earned
Trust comes from clear decisions, direct communication and on-the-ground follow-through. Guests should feel that every important moment has already been anticipated.
Grounded in guest operations
Cristina Longagnani spent five years as Front Office Manager at Jambo Village in Malindi, Kenya — managing international guests, local staff and daily operations at one of the coast's most active resort properties. That on-the-ground East Africa experience is the foundation of how Africa Desk operates: not from a catalogue, but from real knowledge of what works and what doesn't when guests are actually there.
